Head Start Mentoring Clinic

Requirements
By application only. Space is limited to a maximum of eight beginning writers in each mentoring group.
Application Process
Submit a Word Document attachment with the information listed below to coordinator Karen O’Connor, at karen@karenoconnor.com.
- In the subject line write: MH Head Start 2010 – YOUR NAME.
- In the Body: Name & Contact information, including your e-mail address
- Your purpose/goal for being in the Head Start Clinic
- Three to five typed, double-spaced pages of the kind of writing that interests you, either fiction or nonfiction.
- Fiction: Send a scene between 2 people, including dialog.
- Nonfiction: Send a short “how-to” or personal experience article or essay on something that interests you.
Acceptance
Karen will respond to you and place you in a group with a mentor appropriate to your genre of writing interest. That mentor will contact you and work directly with you to prepare you for the conference, as well as put you in touch with all the others in your group. Mentors will be in charge of how they organize the group mentoring as well as the afternoon one-on-one critique times.
