Head Start Mentoring Clinic
March 28-30, 2012
Requirements
- Must have registered for the Head Start Conference.
- By application only. Space is limited to a maximum of eight beginning writers in each mentoring group.
Application Process
Submit a Word Document attachment with the information listed below to coordinator Karen O’Connor, at karen@karenoconnor.com.
- In the subject line write: MH Head Start 2012 – YOUR NAME.
- In the Body: Name & Contact information, including your e-mail address
- Your purpose/goal for being in the Head Start Clinic
- Three to five typed, double-spaced pages of your own writing in the style and genre that interests you, either fiction or nonfiction.
- Fiction: Send a scene between 2 people, including dialog.
- Nonfiction: Send a short “how-to” or personal experience article or essay on something that interests you.
Acceptance
Karen will respond to you and place you in a group with a mentor appropriate to your area of writing interest. That mentor will contact and work directly with you to prepare you for the conference, as well as put you in touch with those in your group. Mentors will be in charge of how they organize their group mentoring as well as the afternoon one-on-one critique times.
