Spring Women's Retreat
at Ponderosa Lodge
April 30-May 2, 2010

Speaker: Jodie Tey
Music: Elizabeth Hunnicutt
Theme: God For Everyone

It is easy to talk about God-His
sovereignty, His plan, His perfect will for our lives, especially when we are
relating Him to another person and their circumstances. The truths about God
and His love and faithfulness come rolling off our tongues—and we believe them
to be perfectly true! But then our circumstances compound or tragedy hits…and
in our quiet moments, we wonder if God will be God for us. Will He show the
same faithfulness? Will He exhibit the same power? Will He love me the same? Throughout the pages of Scripture, God has
proven Himself to be faithful. The goal of our time together will be to address
the insecurities women have about God’s faithfulness and love for them—proving
that God truly is God for Everyone!
About our speaker…
Jodie Tey is has been serving as a
Community Life pastor at CrossWinds Church in Dublin, CA for the past 5 years.
Her primary roles include providing pastoral care to families as well as
conducting leadership training and formulating volunteer development
strategies. Previously, she served at NAEN Ministries in Silicon Valley
discipling workplace professionals in hi-tech companies, showing them how
to use their everyday workplace situations as platforms to share their faith.
Jodie originally started in ministry (16 years ago) as a youth and young adult
pastor, serving in several Asian churches throughout the Bay Area.
Even though Jodie’s ministry background
has been varied, her true passion rests in God’s word and the truth it has for
our everyday lives. She says, "I once heard
someone say, 'When God sends forth His word, it is not so He can hear himself
speak. He wants to accomplish something.'” She loves having the opportunity
to help people dig deep into God's Word for themselves--not just to further
their own growth, but in order to discover what God wants to accomplish in the
world through them. Jodie’s love for study has led to an MDiv degree
from Golden Gate Seminary and she is currently working on her Doctor of
Ministry degree at Fuller Seminary.
Jodie has been married to her husband,
Ernesto, for four years. They have a son, Ernesto Antonio, who is one year old.
Jodie is a self proclaimed “foodie” and considers herself an expert in dark
chocolate! She enjoys movies, cooking, walks with her son, and family time on
the couch.
About the music...
Authentic. Fresh. Organic. Artistic. Accessible.
This is the music of California-based singer-songwriter, Elizabeth Hunnicutt. Born on a farm in rural Nebraska, raised near the mountains of Colorado, and having spent many years in Minnesota, Elizabeth has a way of engaging listeners like an old friend. Her music, best described as acoustic-folk-pop, has a personal feel, as if she’s singing entries from her journal. Faith is the foundation of Elizabeth’s thoughts and perspectives and that comes through in her honest and heartfelt lyrics. She’s not afraid to ask questions or voice her doubts, and her music paints a picture of life that recognizes things aren’t always easy, yet the path is often littered with hope. In 2006, Elizabeth received the Gospel Music Association Academy Award for Song of the Year, for her song “Alright.” Over the last few years, she has shared the stage with talented artists like David Crowder Band, Mat Kearney, Brooke Fraser, Sara Groves, Dave Barnes, Shane and Shane, Ginny Owens, and Derek Webb. In addition to being a songwriter and performer, Elizabeth is also a worship leader, and frequently can be found leading for churches, colleges, conferences, retreats, and events. Her recently released project, On the Way, is a great example of her talent as a singer, songwriter, musician and storyteller. Wherever you are in your journey, Elizabeth’s music is sure to be a welcome companion as you walk, stumble, and find your way through life.
