Hey MH Interns!

I told you my goal was to begin posting again and I finally made it. We have a few announcements that are new today so check them out and let me know if you have any questions.

CCCA sectionals is this next week (Monday-Thursday). Make sure you talk with your supervisor about what is expected of you and check out the schedule for the conference here. Your supervisors have been encouraged to allow you to attend as much of the conference as possible.

March 16th you have an all day camp visit. It sounds like you will be going to Camp Kenolyn, Koinonia and Redwood Glen. They are all in the Santa Cruz area.

If you have yet to, take advantage of your 5 floating PTO days before May 31st. Talk with your supervisor about what days are best.

March is APR month (Annual Performance Review). This means that your supervisors will be walking you through a performance review. Part of the review involves you evaluating yourself. They should be talking to you about it in the coming days.

March is also Intern Interview month! You will each be interviewed by one intern committee member. The interview is your time to answer questions about your intern experience. This is not a review of you but actually is a chance for you to review the intern program. In the next week or so, you will be contacted about setting up a time to do this.

You do have Professional Development tomorrow at 9:30 after staff prayer with Lisa.

Don’t forget to email me your updated lifebooks for coaching before we meet on Thursday afternoon. There is no coaching this week but I want to know how to best help you as I prepare for next week’s coaching sessions.

Make sure you read Waltke chapter 10 by Thursday and be ready to discuss it at our weekly meeting.

See you on Thursday. Since it’s supposed to be raining again, we will meet at my house at 3.

I am thankful for each and every one of you!

-Charlie

Hey Mount Hermon Interns!

I hope you are all having an amazing week. I can’t tell you how much I value and appreciate each and every one of you. Thanks for all that you are and all that you do! Here are this week’s announcements:

This Friday, January 28th your summer staff applications are due. Don’t forget…unless you want to treat the intern community to some ice cream : )

The staff retreat is coming up January 31-Feb 2! Make sure you line up your transportation to Hume.

Your coaching sessions for this week have been canceled. I apologize for the last minute’s notice. I am recruiting in the Sacramento area. I am in the process of rescheduling the meetings we have or will have missed. Please make sure that you are caught up with your coaching work as you now have no excuse to be behind!

Don’t forget to finish reading pages 209-231 in Waltke and Genesis 1:26-2:5 by this Thursday. I am asking you to write a 1-2 page reflection paper on the Waltke chapter that will be due at our intern meeting on Thursday, February 3rd. In this paper, I want you to interact with what Waltke proposes. Here are a few questions to help you as you write: Did you agree with him? Why or why not? Did you read anything that impacted you? If so, what? Did you learn anything new? If so, what? Since you don’t have coaching this week, I encourage you to use that time to write your reflection.

Some other dates to mark on your calendars include: March 16th (all day camp visits), March 7-10 (CCCA), and May 6-7 (AIM weekend).

Thanks for beging patient with me as I get used to incorporating Katie’s job duties into my job. Feel free to call or text me with any questions.

-Charlie

THOUGH the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no heard in the stalls, YET I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord is my strength; he makes my feed like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.”

Hey Mount Hermon interns!

I hope your holiday season was both relaxing and worshipful. Here’s a look at what is coming up:

Your first professional development meeting of 2011 is this Wednesday from 9-10:30.

We resume our Intern Meetings this Thursday at the usual time in the usual place.

Your coaching sessions also resume at their normally scheduled time this week. Make sure that you email me your current Lifebook at least 24 hours in advance of your coaching session. Brian, Cassie and Katie don’t need to worry about this as we will be having our first full session this week.

Next Monday, January 10th is the official moving date for the women interns. We will have more details for you this Thursday.

Our annual intern retreat is this month on January 18-19th. We will leave early on Tuesday morning. These 2 days are considered workdays.

Each of you are required to fill out a summer staff application by Friday, January 28th regardless of whether your position has already been confirmed for the summer. Please make sure that you take 30 minutes to do this in the next few weeks.

Don’t forget that the Mount Hermon staff retreat is from January 31st-February 2nd. Make sure that you have RSVPed to Kerry Phibbs.

Some other dates to mark on your calendars include: March 16th (all day camp visits), March 7-10 (CCCA), and May 6-7 (AIM weekend).

I am thankful for each and every one of you! I continue to learn from you and I love being able to serve Jesus alongside of you.

I’m (Charlie) out here freezing my bum off in North Carolina and I’ve been continually reminded how thankful I am to be able to work with an amazing group like you. Know today that you are appreciated!

One valuable lesson I learned this week is that you should never walk outside with wet hair in North Carolina during the winter time. My hair froze! It was both awesome and a great reminder of how much I love Santa Cruz!

Here are this week’s announcements:

You are all “automatically” RSVPed as YES to the MH Christmas Dinner on the 14th. Each house should bring a dish to share.

Please be brainstorming some Christmas Fun to perform for the staff. We will have 30 minutes this Thursday to work on it as a group.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Staff Gift Exchange with Maribel.

Please confirm your holiday time off with your supervisor if you have yet to do this.

Intern Development is this Wednesday after Staff Prayer. Guest Speaker is Alden Johanson.

Keep your eyes, hearts, and lives open to be God’s agents and objects!

Please complete your Fall Review (due to your Advisor this Thursday!). You can download it by clicking the link at the bottom of this post.

Remember to be working on your first coaching assignment (the faith section of your Life Plan)

You are good enough, you are smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!

See you soon!
