Parent-Child Conferences at Mount Hermon

In a fast-paced society it takes effort to ease back and plan time with family members. Mount Hermon provides unique opportunities for parents and children to do just that — slow down and connect — while providing valuable direction and memorable experiences.
Each weekend conference combines a relaxed setting with fun-filled activities, inspirational song and praise, bringing encouragement and direction through gifted communicators. The parent-child retreats are open to parents and their children grades 2 through 8. These are times you’ll treasure for years to come.
Moms and Sons is offered every other year. For more information on Moms and Daughters, please look for details on our Mom and Daughter link.
Moms and Sons
May 14 - 16, 2010

Have you ever wondered what life would have been like for Peter Pan if his mother had been there? Would he and the Lost Boys still be dueling Captain Hook? Would Aladdin still need a Genie to grant him a wish for the life he always wanted? Even Nemo could have used some motherly advice before his quest to swim the open waters. How these stories could have looked so different, had their mothers been present in their sons’ lives!
At our Moms and Son’ retreat, we are going to explore the importance of mothers and their role in the story of their son’s life. Speaker Linda Newton has a contagious enthusiasm and engaging humor that brings God’s Word to life. She ministers to all ages with her authentic transparency and the gift of story telling.
After raising two great girls and an awesome son, she now fills her days with counseling, writing, and speaking in Oakhurst, CA with her husband, Bruce. Her goal is for her audiences to laugh, learn, and leave feeling closer to the Lord! Mount Hermon’s very own Keri Mellis will be leading worship with the talented Scott Head.
Come cherish your son (or your mom) for a weekend of rest and memories.
When You Come
Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, with dinner between 6:30-7:30 p.m. The weekend concludes with Sunday brunch, around noon. A detailed letter, along with a list of what to bring to camp, is sent to each registrant two weeks prior to the camp date.
Moms stay in a cabin with fellow moms, while sons will stay in a cabin with fellow sons and a male counselor!
Participation & Cost
Reserve your space by sending in a $50 per person, non-refundable, non-transferable deposit.
There is no Saturday lunch scheduled, allowing you and your child the opportunity to explore the beautiful area and have a special lunch date on your own. A small fee will be charged for the optional craft or rocket-building project.
Food, housing and all activities are included at a per-person rate. Our typical parent-child retreats are open to parents and their children, grades two through eight. The spring conferences are also open to 1st-graders as a preview to summer Primary Camp.
