Discovery Grove

 

 

Mount Hermon's newest course! Discovery Grove is a perfect beginning for young adventurers.

This lower, scaled down challenge course is designed with the young adventurer in mind.

Perfect for school field trips, birthday parties, and family activities.

Requirements:

Cost:
• Ages 5-11 (adults may accompany)

• $250 for first hour and a half (1.5 hours)
• $50 for every additional 30 minutes
(Approximately 8 children can traverse the course per hour)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sequoia Adventure Course

 

 

The Sequoia Adventure Course is perfect for groups of 10 or more. The experience focuses on challenge, fun, and group interaction. Reserve the course as a stand-alone experience for your next corporate event, teambuilding day, birthday party, or family reunion.

Redwood Canopy Tours

 

 

The Redwood Canopy Tours at Mount Hermon offers visitors an exciting eco-adventure into the redwood canopy of the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Enjoy the coastal redwood forest from the unique perspective only a zipline canopy tour can offer. The two hour guided tour includes six ziplines and two sky bridges at heights of up to 150 feet. Each tour of up to eight is led by two certified guides who share their ecological knowledge and bring the history of the Santa Cruz redwood forest to life. The Redwood Canopy Tours are the original canopy tour ziplines in the redwood forest and are the only facility of its kind in the region.

Roped Tree Climbing (DRT & SRT)

 

 

Mount Hermon climbs are run by facilitators trained specifically in recreational tree climbing.

We utilize state-of-the-art equipment which makes climbing accessible to a wide variety of fitness levels, abilities and ages.

 

Introduction to Recreational Tree Climbing

This Introductory program will get you climbing right away, under supervision of Mount Hermon Staff. This 3 hour course provides guided ascent into the forest canopy, and will give you an introduction to tree physiology, the history of roped tree climbing and its applications.

Recreational Tree Climbing

Lead by Sam Johnson, this 20 hour course, over 2 days, will give you the skills nessesary to start climbing on your own! Students will learn Double Rope Technique (DRT).

Course topics include:

  • Use and care of equipment
  • Tree inspection
  • Tree entry and setting the rope
  • Knots and tying the DRT climbing system
  • In-tree throws and transfers
  • Basic rescue
  • Ethics and basic safety protocol
