Grant Award for Sand Hills Habitat

Mount Hermon Outdoor Science School was awarded a $10,000 grant through a partnership with USFWS and the Restoration Conservation Ditrict of Santa Cruz. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with these two groups inorder to help restore our sand hills habitat. Our habitat resoration program is called P.E.R.C. which stands for Ponderosa Environmental Resoration Corps.

Outdoor science students who attend, will have the oppurtunity to participate in the project primarily through pulling the invasive species of French and Portugese broom. We are currently pulling about 1.5 acres of broom filled areas in our sand hills habitat. In this unique habitat are several endangered insects and plants.
