Mount Hermon Play School

We invite you to enroll your children, ages 2.5 to entering first grade, in an outstanding educational experience. Mount Hermon’s Preschool is a California licensed facility and program, run by certified and credentialed professionals in child development and preschool education. The Mount Hermon Play School admits sudents of any race, color, national and ethnic origin giving each all the rights and privileges accorded and made available to all students. The Play School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational and admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Your children will be prepared for their school years—and more—as they grow socially, intellectually, physically and spiritually.

This program runs from September through May and offers the following classes:

1. Caterpillar Class:
   Children, who are 2.5 years old by Feb. 1st, and potty trained, may start in February in this class which meets on Tuesday & Thursday, from 9:00 to Noon.
2. Ladybug Class:
   Children, who are 3 years old by Sept. 1st, and potty trained, may enroll in this class which starts in Sept. and goes to May and meets on Tuesday & Thursday, from 9:00 - 12 noon, or 9:00 - 1:00.
3. Butterfly Class:
   Children, who are 4 years old by Sept. 1st, may enroll in this class which starts in Sept. and goes to May and meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9:00 - 12 noon, or 9:00 - 1:00.
4. Pre-Kindergarten class:
   Children, who are 4.5 years old by Sept. 1st, may enroll in this class which starts in Sept. and goes to May and meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9:00 - 1:00. This is for those children who need an extra year before Kindergarten. This class uses Handwriting Without Tears to expose the children to the writing of letters. The children do science experiments, work jobs from Math Their Way and get to do all the other fun things the other children do on these three days.

Some of the curriculum we use is Handwriting Without Tears, Math Their Way, along with our own phonics program for learning the beginning sound of the letters. We incorporate science, art, language, music, dance,water play, climbing, movement, mud, bubbles, block play and dramatic play into the everyday learning experience.
